They say that you follow your passion and success will follow you. Well, in this case, that’s kinda what happened with some due diligence.
I am just passionate about certain things and I am not shy when it comes to sharing my opinions online. I am a big fan of Game of Thrones. And oh boy, I am so unhappy with how they ended the best show ever on TV. More on that in another post.
The writing was crappy. I was rooting for Daenerys Targaryen to break the wheel and to uplift those who are underrepresented & under the rule of a tyrant. I am passionate about uplifting underrepresented communities being a woman of color myself. But the writers robbed many people like me from becoming that a reality.
Not only was the writing sloppy but there were major issues with the editing. In this case the writers, D.B. Weiss & David Benioff, are also the producers & they also directed the Game of Thrones Season 8 finale. So yes, I would put a lot of blame on them.
It seems that they were offered two seasons to wrap up Game of Thrones but they chose to wrap it in 6 episodes after a two-year break from the previous season.
How I Got Featured in HuffPost
So, after I was done watching the finale last Sunday, I rewatched the dragon pit scene where Tyrion Lannister suggests that Brandon Stark should become the King of Westeros. I saw a plastic water bottle behind the leg of the character Samwell Tarly. And just in the fourth episode of this season, there was a Starbucks cup in Winterfell. I mean this is just gross negligence.

So, I took to Twitter to share what I saw when I was rewatching the episode.
So when I woke up the next morning, a friend of mine informed me that she saw my tweet featured in HuffPost.

The Benefits
My Twitter got a lot of traction. My profile visits & tweet impressions went up astronomically.

I got a second tier backlink to my website from a high authority website.
HuffPost has a DA of 92. And this article got linked by other websites. So I kinda got tier 3 backlinks as well.

So that is a lot of SEO juice flowing back to my website. Isn’t that sweet?
I got a ton of website visits that day to my website because I have linked my website to my twitter profile.
The Moral of the Story – What You Can Do?
First of all, don’t be shy of voicing your opinions and observations online, especially if it’s on something that is getting constant media coverage. Provide unique info that may help you get noticed.
Use proper hashtags to get noticed in social media. Things change on social media in a New York minute. For example, I used #GameofThronesfinale & #GameofThrones in my tweet as they were trending at that time.
Make sure your social media profiles have your money URL connected to them so that you can get the SEO juice passed on to your website in case you get lucky.

Hope this article provided you with some tips on how to get featured in high DA websites. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments.
